UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION
O Flamengo received anti-doping control teams that went to Ninho do Urubu in April 2023 to carry out the test with Gabigol. However, based on the information in the anti-doping complaint, the player did not cooperate in the situation. Therefore, Mengo’s number 10 was accused under article 122 of the Brazilian Code, which deals with fraud or attempted fraud in the process.
According to former player Caio Ribeiro, the anti-doping control team arrived at Ninho do Urubu after Gabigol started training. In this way, the athlete and the team’s doctor Flamengo, Márcio Tannure, communicated that the result could be different due to the early start of the player’s activities. However, the professionals did not accept this and carried out the tests. Therefore, the attacker did not like the situation, which may have caused discomfort among the experts.

Gabigol is suspended from football for two years. Furthermore, the attacker will not be able to use the facilities of the Flamengo for physical and sporting activities as part of the punishment. In this way, the player enters coach Tite’s list of absences for the remainder of the season.
