Together, libero Serginho and coach Bernardinho participated in winning four Olympic medals (gold in Athens-2004 and Rio-2016, and silver in Beijing-2008 and London-2012) and two World titles (2002 and 2006). Now, the victorious partnership will be resumed off the court. The coach and the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) invited the former athlete to take on the role of assistant to the men’s team during the team’s preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He will perform next Sunday (28), at the Enel Volleyball Development Center, in Saquarema.

“Before I even made the invitation, he had already made himself available. Having Serginho back with the men’s team will bring a technical and experience gain. He masterfully performed the role of libero, and knows how difficult it is to achieve his goals. It will be a positive influence, even psychological, for the group”, explained Bernardinho.
“I received this invitation and I’m coming back to help in some way. Whether contributing to the work on training the defensive system or reinforcing the values we have always had in the Brazilian team, of work, dedication, sweat and dedication. That whole deserving process. I hope to contribute with my experience”, said Serginho.
“Bernardinho and Serginho are volleyball references in Brazil and around the world. The team can only benefit from the two working together again. Bernardo suggested his name and CBV readily agreed. We have two big challenges this year, the League of Nations and the Paris Olympic Games. Serginho and all the other members of the technical committee will be fundamental pieces in the construction of this trajectory”, reported Jorge Bichara, technical director of CBV.
