One of the most popular series of all time, the North American version of The Office had its reboot confirmed this Wednesday (8). The venture will be led by Peacock streaming, which should take advantage of the concept of a fake documentary to tell the story of a new company.

According to Variety, the service will not try to show new versions of well-known characters like Dwayne, Jim, Pam or Michael Scott. However, the new plot will maintain the same fictional film crew that portrayed life at Dunder Mifflin, in Scraton, and is now looking for a new theme.

The new The Office should be set in the newsroom of a newspaper in the North American Midwest that once had good times, but today survives in a moribund form. The series will follow the moment in which the company ends up being acquired by a publisherwhich turned to volunteer reporters to revive the publication.

New The Office starts filming in July

Although Peacock has only now confirmed that it will produce the series, filming the first season should not take long. Variety reports that recordings will begin in July this year, and names such as Domhall Gleeson (Peter Rabbit) and Sabrina Impacciatore (Ragazzaccio) are already confirmed in the cast, in roles that have not been detailed.

Lisa Katz, president of NBCUniversal, stated that the original The Office continues to be successful, even though it has been 10 years since its final chapter aired. She states that the new series led by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, in partnership with Universal Television, wants to keep this legacy of success alive.

Daniels and Koman will serve as executive producers in partnership with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who created the British version of The Office. The role will also be played by Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas, and Universal Television has taken over as the studio responsible for the project.

The new version of the series began to be developed in early 2024, and so far its complete cast has not been confirmed. There is still no prediction of which streaming platform should show the new production in Brazil. Here, the American version started in 2005 and is available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Max.
