Owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor must be suspended by STJD this Friday (25/4) in a trial by the Full Court, reports the column by Guilherme Amado, from the “Metrópoles” portal.
The case concerns complaints made by Textor after the defeat to Palm treesin November 2023. The trial of the appeals of the American businessman and the Prosecutor’s Office was postponed twice.
“According to auditors interviewed by the column, Textor’s appeal is unlikely to prosper”, says the text.
The trial would initially be held on the 9th, but was postponed after a request for a review from the auditor and vice-president of the STJD, Felipe Bevilacqua.
Afterwards, Bevilacqua asked for the case to be removed from the agenda, justifying that John Textor had presented new confidential documents to auditors with evidence of match-fixing in Brazilian football.
In the initial trial, carried out in December 2023 by the 5th Disciplinary Commission, Textor had been suspended for 35 days and fined R$25,000. Now, the rapporteur of the case in the Plenary, Mauricio Neves Fonseca, defends the suspension of 105 days (90 for insulting honor and 15 for invasion of the field) and a fine of R$ 75 thousand.
