Azul invests R$3 billion in 13 Embraer aircraft and “christens” the plane in the presence of Lula

Azul (AZUL4) confirmed this Friday (26) that it should receive 13 model 195-E2 aircraft from Embraer by the end of this year. The investment in fleet renewal exceeds R$3 billion and was announced in a ceremony at the aircraft manufacturer’s headquarters, in São José dos Campos (SP), in the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and government ministers.

According to Azul, the company is the largest operator of Embraer’s latest generation jets and also has the largest purchase order for this type of aircraft. The E2 has capacity for 136 Customers, and, according to the airline, is the largest and most modern aircraft manufactured in Brazil.

“The equipment is the most efficient single-aisle model currently on the market, offering savings of up to 25% in CO2 emissions,” says the company statement. Azul currently operates 20 aircraft of the same model. The first was received in 2019.

Currently, Azul has a fleet of 189 aircraft. “The expected delivery of another 13 E195-E2 jets to Azul this year is another important demonstration of confidence in our aircraft”, said Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer, during the symbolic baptism of an aircraft, which received the name by Azul & Embraer.
