Anthrax announced that for personal reasons, bassist Frank Bello will not be able to accompany the band on the tour that will take place in South America, which will begin on April 13th at MxMF Metal Fest. The musician chosen to take his place on these dates, as well as at the two US festivals in May, will be Anthrax founding member and original bassist Dan Lilker, marking his first appearance with the band on stage in 40 years. He, who is also a co-writer and played on the band’s debut album Fistful of Metal, is a member of SOD with Charlie Benante and Scott Ian.

“I’m really excited to play with Anthrax again,” commented Lilker. “When we split up back in 1984, they told me to stick around because they might need me after 40 years.”
The band added: “We’re really excited to play with Danny again and we’re really happy to be playing in Frank’s place. It’s been a while since we’ve played in South America, so don’t miss these shows, they’re going to be crazy.”

Dn Lilker has not stood still in these past four decades, as he has played in several bands. He was the bassist for the thrash metal band Nuclear Assault as well as the grindcore band Brutal Truth. He also plays bass in the bands Exit-13, Malformed Earthborn, The Ravenous, Overlord Exterminator, Venomous Concept and many others.
