X-Men ’97, continuation of the classic animated series, is the first Marvel Studios/Disney production since the rights of mutants returned to the House of Ideas itself.
X-Men ’97 is already in its 3rd episode on Disney+, and the most recent chapter of the animated series featured the return of the villain Mr. Sinisterone of the team’s greatest enemies in Marvel comics.
Mr. Sinister is a geneticist who emerged in the 19th century and ended up becoming obsessed with mutants and their experiments, also managing to prolong his life until the present time.
And according to the journalist Daniel Richtman, Mr. Sinister will also be the big villain in the first live-action X-Men film in the MCU. According to the source, at least for now, Marvel wants to get away from the situation of Magneto always being the villain in the films.
Despite being a great arch-enemy of the X-Men in the comics, he has never been adapted in the cinema, and so starting the reboot of the mutants by introducing a new villain, even though it may be surprising, seems to be a great choice.
