Production has the lowest level of acceptance among all of Po’s adventures.

Kung Fu Panda 4 is now showing in cinemas around the world and, despite having the taste of nostalgia that many fans were looking for, it seems to have failed to please a large portion of the public and critics. Directed by Mike Mitchell, from SpongeBob SquarePants: A Hero Out of Water, A Lego Adventure 2 and Trolls, the film features Lúcio Mauro Filho, Taís Araujo and Danni Suzuki in the cast of voice actors.

After three adventures risking his own life to defeat the most powerful villains, Po, the Great Dragon Warrior is chosen to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. The choice itself is already problematic when placing the most unlikely kung fu master of the world in a position like this and in addition, he needs to find and train a new Dragon Warrior before assuming the honorable position.

Kung Fu Panda 4: What is the relationship between Britney Spears and the new animation in the franchise?

While trying to understand that he will need to leave his role to take a new step in his journey, he comes across Zhen, a fox with many skills who seems to be the ideal bet to be trained, but who doesn’t really like this idea. As if the challenges weren’t enough, the Chameleon, a wicked sorceress, tries to bring back all the villains defeated by Po from the spiritual realm.

Eight years after the end of the initial trilogy, which seemed satisfactorily concluded, the project arrived with 72% critical approval on Rotten Tomatoes. It is the lowest rating in the franchise, with 86% for Kung Fu Panda 3, 81% for Kung Fu Panda 2 and 87% for the first feature.

One of the reasons is related to the lack of the Furious Five in the plot. Probably because they had difficulty bringing Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen and David Cross back – a strong team that managed to participate in the initial trilogy. The warriors are an intrinsic part of Po’s story and the lack of them at this important moment, even if it is justifiable during the plot, must not have pleased the fans.

After such a long journey, seeing the Dragon Warrior decide who will be his successor in a mocking way, even though it makes sense within the scope of the franchise’s comedy, may also have contributed to the disappointment of some. The lack of connection with the new heroine, Zhen, and Camaleoa’s hollow motivations contributed to the film’s negative repercussions.

Does Kung Fu Panda 4 have a post-credits scene? Po’s new adventure opens up possibilities for the future

In addition to the script aspects, there is another point that will be noticeable: the quality of the animation. Kung Fu Panda 4 had the smallest budget in the franchise, with “only” 85 million dollars invested in its production. All other films had at least 130 million dollars. This clearly means that the animation falls a little short of what has already been seen on screen when it comes to the saga of the beloved and clumsy panda.

Even though it has low engagement in cinemas, the film managed to attract the attention of the loyal public who went to the cinemas to watch Po’s new adventure. To date, the production has already earned around 275 million dollars at the global box office, a number that is expected to increase over the next few weeks due to the gradual launch on the international market.

Kung Fu Panda 4 is still showing in theaters.
