The State Governor, Renato Casagrande, inaugurated, this Wednesday (08), the new headquarters of the State Secretariat for Women (SESM), located in the Santa Lúcia neighborhood, in Vitória. During the agenda, the “Programa Mulher Viver +” was launched, a strategy within the Present State in Defense of Life that brings together, in an integrated way on a single axis, several actions and projects aimed at women in Espírito Santo.
Based on fundamental premises such as transversality, intersectorality, regionalization, intersectionality, participation, among others, the “Woman Live +“ has the general objective of confronting all forms of violence against women and girls and promoting gender equality, articulating public policies in a transversal and intersectoral way, as a way of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
O “Woman Live +“ currently articulates 17 structured projects focused on public policies for women. The program is executed by the State Secretariat for Women, which has the role of coordinating actions and initiatives that enable better integration of projects, with effective responses and deliveries for society as a whole.
“The State of Espírito Santo is increasingly organized to face its challenges. I highlight the importance of the creation and existence of the Women’s Secretariat. In all my mandates we have had policies to protect society, especially the most vulnerable segments. We put into practice the Present State Program in Defense of Life. Furthermore, we have several programs aimed at protecting women, however, the task is even greater, as there are still people who think that women are their property”, said the governor, accompanied by the first lady Maria Virginia Casagrande.
Casagrande reinforced that there is no lack of willingness on the part of the State Government to face these challenges and break with this culture of violation of women’s rights: “SESM will lead Mulher Viver + within the Present State in Defense of Life. It is a program related to education, financial independence, among other topics. In this universe, I highlight our initiatives, such as QualificarES Mulheres and Núcleo Margaridas. The State must offer protection instruments to women and the most vulnerable segments.”
Coordinated by the Secretariat of Economy and Planning (SEP), the Programa Estado Presente em Defesa da Vida aims to promote public safety through integrated and articulated strategies to combat violence, protection and social defense. There are several strategic prevention and social protection actions based on projects that enable the promotion of citizenship, access to basic services; as well as reducing risks and social vulnerabilities in regions historically marked by violence and social exclusion, with positive consequences for Espírito Santo society.
New place
The inauguration of the new headquarters provides an adequate and functional physical space for SESM’s activities to promote women’s rights, combat gender-based violence and promote equality in all areas. The space is located in the building attached to the Espírito Santo Commercial Board (Jucees), at Av. Nossa Senhora da Penha, 1915, in Santa Lúcia, in the Capital.
“This new headquarters is not just a building, but a symbol of our commitment to providing a dedicated and welcoming space for all women in our State. SESM was an achievement for women from Espírito Santo, and with just one year of being Secretary, we can continue with this new house. Furthermore, it is a joy to be part of the Mulher Viver + Program, a fundamental action to expand and implement public policies for women”, stated the Secretary of State for Women, Jacqueline Moraes.
The Undersecretary of State for Women’s Policies, Sônia Damasceno, recalled that the secretariat is a beacon of hope and transformation for all women in the State. “Our mission is clear: to ensure that all women have a voice, opportunities and dignity. And this headquarters will be the epicenter of our efforts to achieve this goal. Furthermore, this new headquarters will be a meeting point for collaboration and collective action. Only together can we create a more just and inclusive society for everyone.”
