Sustainability is a central theme of the Pelo Brasil project in Amazonas | National ASN

Sebrae Pelo Brasil’s work agenda in the Amazon had sustainability as its central theme. Amazonas is the 19th state to receive the project, which has been traveling across the country to highlight regional potential with a focus on small businesses. The main message conveyed by the president of Sebrae, Décio Lima, to the approximately 326 employees was about the strategic importance that the Amazon has for the world.

“The transformative programs that are being implemented by Sebrae in Amazonas are transforming reality. Ideas and solutions that we never thought were viable. Our role in entrepreneurship is strategic, as you are creating solutions to save the world”, stated Décio Lima.

The number of small businesses in Amazonas corresponds to 202 thousand companies, of which 51% are individual microentrepreneurs (MEI). “Our view of the Amazon is its role in the sustainability of the country and the world. Here, we have the waters of rivers that embrace the planet’s possibilities. In addition to the economic protagonism that is associated with the concept of sustainability. This concept is globalized, the process is global, when we talk about the Amazon we are talking about international wealth”, he stated. Director of Administration and Finance Margarete Coelho attended the meeting.

Sebrae in Amazonas

Sebrae’s main projects in Amazonas are in Handicrafts and through the Cidade Empreendedora program, a program implemented in 11 municipalities, in which 664 training courses, 10 technical visits, 86 consultancies and 14 events were carried out. Job creation by small businesses in the state reached 74% in 2023. In these first months of 2024 alone, of the almost 7 thousand jobs created (large and small companies), around 70% were from MSEs.
