Under the presidency of Tocantins federal deputy Vicentinho Júnior (Progressistas/TO), the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development (CAPADR), of the Chamber of Deputies, approved this Wednesday, May 8, the parliamentarian’s report on the creation of Police Stations Specialized in Agrarian Conflicts (DECAs).

According to the author of Project 3,763/2023, federal deputy delegate Fábio Costa, the initiative focuses on repressing and investigating property crimes related to rural activity, as well as crimes arising from agrarian conflicts that involve violence or serious threats.

With the vote in favor, the rapporteur, Vicentinho Júnior, emphasized the importance of the measure as a way of combating crime in the countryside: “The lack of specialized police stations in the prevention and repression of crimes related to agrarian conflicts, in most cases favors impunity for criminal organizations”, he emphasized.

Then, the president of the Commission also reiterated that: “the absence of police stations ends up triggering a series of crimes that, not infrequently, culminate in deaths and substantial financial losses, notably for those dedicated to agricultural production”, he concluded.

Resources

The Project foresees the use of resources from the National Public Security Fund (FNSP) to create DECAs. Before being voted on by the House Plenary, the project will be processed by the Constitution and Justice and Citizenship Committees; Finance and Taxation; Public Security and Combating Organized Crime.
