On the afternoon of May 8, 2024, the Alagoas Without Hunger Program carried out another solidarity action, delivering a ton of non-perishable food to the Instituto Amigos da Sopa de Alagoas (IASAL), which serves needy neighborhoods in the state. Vice-governor Ronaldo Lessa, representing governor Paulo Dantas, and the executive secretary of Internal Management of the Secretariat of Development and Social Assistance (Seades), João Ulisses Guimarães, were responsible for delivering the food, in a ceremony that included the presence of the president of IASAL, Tibério Jorge da Silva.

The Alagoas Without Hunger Program has already distributed more than four tons of food and collected 10.6 tons to date. During the event, the vice-governor highlighted the importance of partnership between the government and serious institutions such as IASAL, highlighting the need for collaboration and solidarity to combat hunger and promote food security in the state.

Tibério Jorge da Silva, president of IASAL, expressed his gratitude for the government’s continued support and highlighted the importance of donating food to families most in need. The Instituto Amigos da Sopa de Alagoas serves approximately 250 beneficiaries per day, offering not only food, but also educational, cultural and health activities for the community.

The Alagoas Without Hunger Program, linked to IASAL, aims to eradicate hunger and promote food security in the state, relying on strategic partnerships with various entities. It is in the implementation phase of the Alagoas Without Hunger Card and has collection points in strategic locations to guarantee assistance to families in situations of social vulnerability.

This action by the Alagoas Without Hunger Program reinforces the government’s commitment to the fight against hunger and promoting the well-being of the population most in need, demonstrating the importance of solidarity and collaboration to build a more just and egalitarian society.
