Journalist Elisa Veeck used her social network to show outrage at videos circulating on social media involving the rain tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul and Madonna’s epic concert in Rio de Janeiro(video below). Until the beginning of this Tuesday (7), the water in several cities in Rio Grande do Sul had not drained and 85 people had died, generating a wave of solidarity among several celebrities, including the queen of pop.

The number of missing people exceeds 130 (the survey even included Miss Brazil 2008 Natália Anderle, who was unable to communicate) and the number of injured people reaches almost 350; almost 1,200 million inhabitants have already been affected in some way. The weather forecast predicts winds of 100km/h for the next few hours, while municipalities are now at risk of experiencing an outbreak of dengue fever and other diseases due to contaminated water.

Rain tragedy in RS: journalist reacts to distorted video. ‘Beware of lies’

Presenter of “Live CNN”, on CNN Brasil, Elisa had a clipping of her speech on the pay TV news cut out as if she were making light of the humanitarian tragedy in the South and valuing Madonna’s show. Fran’s interpreter in the first version of “Chiquititas” (1997-2001), Elisa is from Canoas, in Greater Porto Alegre, and one of the cities most affected by historic flooding.

“They cut out 30 seconds of my speech live and published it out of context, as if I, a Gaucho, covering the tragedy for 24 hours, were saying that the show was more important than anything else. Be careful with online lies!”, warned the journalist on Instagram.
