Victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul can now withdraw part of the balance from the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS), through Saque Calamidade.

The modality, aimed at those whose homes were affected by a natural disaster, is available to residents of municipalities that have declared a state of public calamity or emergency situation, duly recognized by federal government decree. It is worth noting that each city hall will send the declaration of areas affected by the extreme weather event to Caixa Econômica Federal.

The value of the withdrawal, however, is limited to the amount corresponding to R$ 6,220.00 (six thousand, two hundred and twenty reais) for each event characterized as a natural disaster, provided that the interval between one withdrawal and another is not less than twelve months.
