Brazilian app shows flood data in Rio Grande do Sul

-

Developer João Gabriel Pozzobon, a Brazilian who we have already interviewed here on MacMagazine and responsible for apps like Magic, today updated its flood monitoring application (called Fluss) to include data from the Rio Grande do Sul.

According to him, who developed the software especially to monitor floods in Blumenal, in Vale do Itajaí (Santa Catarina), Fluss now has a data source for the Guaíba Lakein the region of Porto Alegre.

The data for the new region was obtained through integration with the National Water Resources Information System, which has a vast amount and scope of data from different locations.

According to the software’s description on the App Store, this new source will make it easier to add support to other regions of Brazil in the future — which will certainly have the potential to save many lives.

The addition of data comes at a time when Rio Grande do Sul is suffering the biggest natural catastrophe caused by rain in its history, with 95 deaths confirmed so far due to the strong floods that are ravaging the state.

With Fluss, users monitor data through a widget, which can be added to both the iOS Home screen (or macOS Desktop) and the Notification Center on Apple devices.

By default, it displays data from the Blumenau region. If you are from Rio Grande do Sul and wish to change this setting, simply edit the widget and select the “Porto Alegre” option in the region selector.
