Pedro Scooby, who is in Rio Grande do Sul with another group of surfers, returned to Instagram Stories this Tuesday (7) to list the rescues of stranded or at-risk people he carried out during the day.
“We just got out of the water, today was a special day”, he said, accompanied by fellow surfer and former BBB member Lucas Chumbo. The two detailed that they flew over the flooded areas earlier in the day with the help of firefighters, and left to help rescue people on watercraft that they took from Rio de Janeiro.
“We spent the whole day there. I wanted to let you know: a lot of people sent me messages, it’s difficult, I can’t respond to WhatsApp,” he said. The search and rescue group went to the Getúlio Vargas Municipal School, in the city of Eldorado do Sul, and rescued 50 people there. The duo also said that they managed to rescue people who were stranded in a telecommunications company in the same municipality.
“Obviously, it’s a huge team effort, a lot of people helping, it was really cool,” he said. “I wanted to thank everyone, the civil and federal police helped a lot, everyone was rushing to help, the firefighters…”.
“At the end, we found a gym and there were more than twenty dogs. We managed to take them all. It was very animal”, he celebrated. He also pointed out the reluctance of some residents to leave their homes: “There was a guy, yesterday, we wanted to rescue them and he didn’t want to leave the house. A lot of people don’t want to leave the houses, they stay on the second floor… And the We discovered that the guy had a pregnant wife. We convinced him, we did psychological work and we managed to do it.”
“There was also a mother who had just had a cesarean section. We picked her up. The baby was one or two weeks old, very tiny. We convinced her, and they took everyone away. In all the tragedy, it gives relief and a affection in the heart”, he concluded.
