A journey of discovery of Espírito Santo’s specialty coffees now in the palm of your hand with your cell phone or on your TV screen. A three-episode web series was launched, called “Beyond the Cup: the origin of specialty coffees”, with the purpose of democratizing access to the best coffees in the state, showing the stories of family production behind them. The creation and production is by the Terrafé coffee shop chain.

The first episode shows the farm of producer Wellington Braga, the first property to receive a visit from the “Lado a Lado” project – an initiative that aims to discover high-quality coffees with the help of an itinerant tasting laboratory. Specialty coffee allows the producer to have a higher profit margin, in a job that involves the whole family.

The second episode shows Josane Bissoli’s property, in Vila Pontões, Afonso Cláudio. Josane is part of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs (Amep), a collective dedicated to social development and training, which mobilizes and qualifies small producers in the region. An exclusive batch of coffee produced by Josane was launched by Terrafé – in a limited edition – in partnership with the Women’s Association for Education and Combating Cancer (Afecc). Part of the proceeds from the sale of the product was donated to the institution.

The third episode will show how a specialty coffee laboratory works and talk about the importance of having the support of Rafa Marques, a professional qualified to give a seal of quality to specialty coffees.

Two episodes are now available on the network’s app and YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/@TerrafeCafeteria

For coffee specialist and founder of Terrafé, Raul Guizelini, the web series is a way for Brazilian consumers to learn more about specialty coffees. “We are in the phase of acculturation to specialty coffees, that is, introducing people to it, and this movement has to start with coffee shops, roasters and coffee brands”, explains Raul. He highlights that the estimate is that, in five years, 10 out of every 100 Brazilians will consume specialty coffees.

ES: SECOND LARGEST PRODUCER OF ARABIC COFFEE

The second largest producer of Arabica coffee in Brazil, ES has the conditions to be a heavyweight competitor in the dispute for the market. Among the state’s competitive advantages are its geographic location – close to large consumer centers – and the fact that it has a small territory, which facilitates the logistics of delivery from the interior to the Metropolitan Region.

Terrafé, which turns 10 years old in 2024, estimates a 50% growth in the sale of specialty coffees this year, with sales jumping from 12 to 18 tons. The chain opened its first concept store recently, in Praia do Canto.
