The State Revenue of Paraná released this Tuesday (7) the balance of collection of Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) 2024 between the months of January and April. According to data compiled until last Thursday (2), owners of more than 3.3 million vehicles in the State collected R$4.28 billion from IPVA 2024. Of this total amount, R$2.56 billion correspond to full tax payments. Payments in installments total R$1.73 billion.

The total amount released in IPVA this year was R$6.42 billion in Paraná, with amounts that affect a taxed fleet made up of 4.7 million vehicles.

The municipalities that have collected the most IPVA so far are: Curitiba, with an amount of R$1.06 billion paid; Londrina, with R$248.2 million; Maringá, with R$228.5 million; Cascavel, with R$165.1 million; Ponta Grossa, with R$134.8 million; São José dos Pinhais, with R$121.1 million; and Foz do Iguaçu, with R$95.4 million.

This year, owners who chose to pay in cash until January 23rd received a 6% discount on the tax amount. The IPVA rate in Paraná is 3.5% on the market value of cars and motorcycles in general. For buses, trucks, cargo vehicles, rental vehicles or vehicles powered by natural gas (CNG), the rate is 1%.

Those manufactured in the last 20 years are taxed – in the case of motorcycles with up to 125 engine capacity, the age limit for taxation is 10 years. There is an exemption for some specific categories, such as public transport buses, school transport vehicles and vehicles owned by people with disabilities, among others.

IPVA represents one of the main tax sources in the State, and 50% of its revenue is allocated to municipalities.

DELAYS – In case of late payment, the fine charged is 0.33% per day, plus late payment interest according to the Selic rate. After 30 days of delay, the percentage is set at 10% of the tax amount.

GUIDES – As in previous years, IPVA bills are not sent by post, and the Treasury and Revenue do not send invoices via email or messaging applications. Taxpayers in Paraná must generate payment slips (GR-PR) through official channels such as the IPVA Portal, the State Revenue Service Rapid Services (available for Android and iOS) and Detran Inteligente applications, in addition to the Tax Payment Portal .

FRAUDS – The Treasury Department warns taxpayers about the existence of fraudulent websites related to IPVA collection. The recommendation is to always generate payment slips through official websites, identifiable by addresses that end with the extension “pr.gov.br”, or use the State Revenue app.

Below is the calendar for the fifth and final installment of IPVA 2024, due in May, according to the end of the plate:

1 and 2 – 17/05

3 and 4 – 20/05

5 and 6 – 21/05
