Applications are open for scholarships offered by the Government of Japan annually to students from Pará and the other four Brazilian states for research/postgraduate studies.

O Registration period runs until May 24th. In June, vacancies open for undergraduate, technical school and professional courses.

The vacancies are for students from the states of Pará, Amapá, Maranhão and Piauí, who must meet the following criteria/:

  • be Brazilian;
  • be aged up to 34 years on April 1, 2025 (born after 04/02/1990);
  • have completed higher education;
  • have knowledge of English and/or Japanese;
  • scientific initiation is recommended.

For undergraduate, technical school and professional course vacancies, the criteria are:

  • be Brazilian;
  • be aged up to 24 years on April 1, 2025 (born after April 2, 2000);
  • have high school education or complete specific training;
  • have knowledge of English and/or Japanese.

According to the Consulate of Japan in Brazil, which is receiving the applications, since the 1970s, around 193 students and researchers from the states of Pará, Maranhão, Piauí and Amapá have traveled to Japan to study and carry out research. After completing the courses, they returned to Brazil.

Selection consists of document analysis, written tests and an interview in English and/or Japanese.

In addition to studying in Japan, the benefits of the scholarship are:

  • Monthly value ranging between R$4,000 and R$5,000, round-trip air tickets to Japan and payment of school expenses.

To register, it is essential to present the following documents:

  • a) Registration form filled out correctly in English or Japanese with 02 3.5×4.5 photos;
  • b) Diploma/certificate and academic transcript with translation into English or Japanese;
  • c) Letter of recommendation with translation into English or Japanese;
  • d) Study/writing project in English, among others.
