This Monday, May 6, 2024, in the Regional Superintendency Auditorium, SR 03 of INCRA, in Recife, we formalized the Working Group on the Sustainable Rural Territorial Development Policy in Pernambuco and the Dom Helder Project.

This was an initiative of the Superintendence of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture of Pernambuco (MDA), led by the Superintendent, Caetano de Carli Viana Costa, and was attended by several leaders of social movements and public managers such as Cícera Nunes (President of FETAPE), Jackeline Gadé de Araújo Rossiter (Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of Agrarian Development, Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock of the Government of the State of Pernambuco), Josué Lucena de Lira and Maria Angélica Brasileiro Costa (Banco do Nordeste), Cristiane Cavalcante (President of the State Council for Sustainable Rural Development), Camila Lima (Substitute Superintendent), José Ivo Lopes da Silva (STR Lagoa Grande), Juliana Alves dos Santos (STR Flores), José Matias de Souza (STR Afogados da Ingazeira), Terezinha Castro de Araújo (STR Ouricuri), Jeferson Berilo (STR Ibimirim), Sandra Silva de Carvalho (National Network of Territorial Collegiates), Rozeana Maria Mendes (CONAQ), Rosângela Maria da Silva (CONAQ), André Soares (MST), Clebson Gomes (MST ), Marcos Couto (National Network of Territorial Collegiates), Ivson Silva (ITERPE), Caetano de Carli Viana Costa (Federal Superintendent of Agrarian Development-PE).

At this meeting, it was forwarded to the National Council for Sustainable Rural Development (CONDRAF) for approval of the twelve territories of Pernambuco, which are: Metropolitana, Mata Sul, Mata Norte, Agreste Setentrional, Agreste Central, Agreste Meridional, Sertão do Moxotó, Sertão do Pajeú, Sertão de Itaparica, Sertão Central, Sertão do São Francisco and Sertão do Araripe, following in accordance with what was widely debated in all meetings that have been held since November 2023, to resume the Territorial Policy for Sustainable Rural Development in Pernambuco.

A broad debate was also held on the Dom Helder Câmara III Project, where everyone gave their contributions and decisions related to the choice of territories that will benefit from the project.
