In preparation for the Copa Amazonas, the Aurinegra base plays a friendly with the professional team of Manaus

In the planning of the base’s beasts, two more friendlies should be held this May

The Amazonas FC U20 team played a friendly match on Monday afternoon (6) against the professional squad of Manaus FC. The preparatory activity for the Copa Amazonas at the Aurinegra base took place at CT do Gavião. Two more friendlies are planned before the team’s debut in the competition.

In the restructuring phase, the Aurinegra base squad has been preparing for the competition calendar for more than a month. To this end, coach Victor Lenine announced in charge of the team that seeks to increase the Feras’ teamwork for the Copa Amazonas. Despite the kids’ setback, the coach noted progress.

“I was able to visualize an evolution, tactical-technical stance. It’s a different rhythm when you have a friendly match with a professional team that is active. But they competed a lot, they ran and we were organized most of the time. So it wasn’t an easy job for Manaus either. This friendly match was very positive, it left us with the feeling that we are on the right path. In general, we were satisfied with their progress but aware that we still have a lot to improve”, he pointed out.

Amazonas FC is still waiting for its opponent in the competition’s debut. The Copa Amazonas table should be released this week.

The competition

Unprecedented on the calendar, the Copa Amazonas under-20 will start on May 18th and guarantees the champion a place in the 2025 edition of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, the main youth competition in the country.

Amazonas will be in group A, alongside Fast Clube, Nacional, Sul América, Cliper, RB do Norte, São Paulo Amazonas and Princesa do Solimões. In the first phase, Onça-pintada will face the teams from group B, which has Librade, Presidente Figueiredo, Manaus, Paramazonas, Sete FC, São Raimundo, Inter Academy and CDC Manicoré.

The best six in each group qualify, where the first two advance directly to the semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, teams from their own group will face each other, without crossing paths with each other. In all knockout stages, there will be single matches with no draw advantage.
