Deputies want to allocate 50% of the electoral fund to RS

A group of federal deputies presented, on Monday 6th, a bill that aims to allocate 50% of the electoral fund to financing emergency actions in the Rio Grande do Sul. The proposal was filed by the parliamentarian Luiz Philippe de Orleans and Bragança (PL-SP).

According to information from the Metrópoles portal, the text provides that 50% of the amount allocated to finance municipal electoral campaigns must be allocated to recover damaged infrastructure, guarantee the supply of drinking water, energy and other urgent needs of the population of Rio Grande do Sul. Parliamentarians estimate that approximately R$2.45 billion can be used.

Also on Monday, the Chamber unanimously approved a project that declares a state of public calamity in RS until the end of 2024. The measure frees up federal resources to help the State recover after the storms that hit more than 364 cities.

The project now moves to Senate. If approved, it will facilitate assistance to victims and the reconstruction of affected areas, without impacting national fiscal goals. Resources from the Union to the State are estimated at around R$5 billion and come from funds from Itaipu and Petrobras.

On Monday, federal deputy Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) presented five bills in favor of Rio Grande do Sul.

Van Hattem proposed the suspension of PIS/Pasep, Cofins and IPI taxes for two years, extraordinary credit via provisional measure, resources for the events and tourism sectors, income tax deduction and exemption from navigation licenses in flooded areas this last PL co-authored by deputy Gilson Marques (Novo-SC).
