The president recalled having been a leader of strikes in the past and said he was in favor of the instrument, but advocated as many negotiations as possible.

“Negotiation is always like this: I asked for 10, and they offered me 2, and I didn’t want it. But between 10 and 2, there’s 3, there’s 4, there’s 5, there’s 6. It’s always possible to find a number that you can, if not satisfy 100% of people, but serve.”

Then, Lula highlighted that the government has resource limitations because “it doesn’t produce money, it collects it from the people.”

The president added: “We’re going to make an agreement. I’m not happy to see part of the education sector on strike. I have to open many technical schools, visit universities, and I want teachers and staff to be calm.”
