Former President of the Republic recovers from skin infection after being taken to hospital over the weekend
Jair Bolsonaro’s advisors have already conveyed to Mato Grosso’s South allies that the former president of the Republic’s visit to the 58th edition of Expoagro, an agricultural fair in Dourados, is canceled due to the recent hospitalization of the former head of state.
He was admitted on Saturday (4), in Manaus (AM), and had to be transferred today to a hospital in Brasília (DF) after feeling intestinal discomfort. Bolsonaro addresses the situation erysipelasa skin infection caused by bacteria, and must be under medical observation for the next 15 days.
The former President of the Republic would be welcomed with a motorcade followed by a horse ride on May 14th. Details of the itinerary were released to the press last Thursday. The flight would leave Brasília for Ponta Porã at 11am. Already in Mato Grosso do Sul, Bolsonaro would drive to the municipality of the event where he would participate in a meeting with supporters and a closed dinner for rural producers.
Federal deputy Marcos Pollon (PL) even organized a 100 square meter space to welcome the former president. The stand installed at the João Humberto de Andrade Carvalho Exhibition Park was even named “Casa Bolsonaro”.
Understand – This is not the first time that Jair Bolsonaro has been hospitalized for a skin infection. In 2022, during the election period, the then president isolated himself at Palácio da Alvorada for ten days while he recovered.
Caused by bacteria following insect bites or minor injuries, the infection manifests itself in the legs and arms when the immune system is weakened. Symptoms range from malaise, fever, chills, swelling and local pain. Treatment is with oral antibiotics.
According to Folha de São Paulo, the patient may improve in two to five days. In more resistant cases, the medication is changed until a way to combat the infection is found.
