National and international experts will discuss strategies against organized crime at MPAM

The meeting will take place the other week, at the headquarters of the Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas, on May 16th and 17th

The Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas (MPAM) is preparing to receive national and international authorities in the fight against organized crime, including representatives from South American countries and the United States. Organized by the National Group to Combat Criminal Organizations (GNCOC), an entity belonging to the National Council of Attorneys General (CNPG). The meeting is scheduled for the 16th and 17th of May in the city of Manaus and aims to promote dialogue and exchange of experiences among experts, thus strengthening national and international cooperation in the fight against organized crime.

On the first day, proposals for integrating the GNCOC into national networks to combat organized crime will be discussed. Among the confirmed speakers are Mário Sarrubbo, national secretary of Public Security; Luiz Fernando Corrêa, general director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin); Rodney da Silva, director of Integrated Operations and Intelligence at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security; and André de Albuquerque Garcia, National Secretary for Penal Policies at the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (Senappen) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

On the second day, the focus will be on international perspectives on the fight against organized crime. The list of confirmed international speakers includes Carlos Alberto del Piélago Cárdenas, senior judge of Peru and president of the First Criminal Court of Appeals of the Superior Court of Justice of Loreto; and Christopher Kirk, special agent with the United States Diplomatic Security Service. The event will also feature the participation of representatives from Argentina, such as Ricardo Toranzos, federal inspector from Salta.

The Attorney General of Justice (PGJ) of Amazonas, Alberto Nascimento, president of the GNCOC, reinforces the intention of the meeting, whose objective is to promote the integration of the authorities present, expanding the fight against organized crime in Brazil and Latin America. “It is We are happy to welcome to our State these great minds in the fight against Brazilian and international organized crime, in order to expand the dialogue, so that together we can expand strategies to eliminate these criminal organizations, with intelligent and integrated actions”, stated the president.

In addition to the PGJ of Amazonas, the meeting will bring together other attorneys general from the Brazilian Public Ministry and representatives of all Special Action Groups to Combat Organized Crime (GAECOs) in the country, as well as advisors and intelligence centers from the institutions.
