The first lady and Lula’s new pet is called “Esperança” and was rescued during the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul
First Lady Janja Lula da Silva adopted a dog this Sunday (May 5, 2024) during a visit to the Animal Welfare Center in Canoas (RS). The municipality is one of the most affected by the heavy rains that hit the State. The animal, rescued during the tragedy in the region, is called “Esperança”.
“Hope is now going to Brasília with us. She will have a lot of love and affection there and that is what every ‘doggy’, every pet needs. She will be a sister of Paris and the Resistance”, said the sociologist. She accompanies President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on a trip to the South.
In a video shared on Instagram alongside Janja, Canoas councilor and animal activist, Cris Moraes (PV), appealed to the population to also adopt a rescued animal. “Don’t forget to come here, do as the first lady did […] Adopt one, just one. This helps a lot”he stated.
