Moraes responds to the PGR and orders the PF to deepen an investigation against Bolsonaro and his allies regarding vaccine card fraud | Policy

Earlier, this Tuesday, the Public Ministry requested further investigation into the scheme, including a possible connection between the fraud and an attempted coup d’état.

In the decision that returns the case to the Federal Police, Moraes ordered the corporation to clarify:

• on the possible effective use of fake vaccination cards in the United States
• the forensic report carried out on the cell phone of deputy Gutemberg Reis (MDB-RJ), one of those indicted for allegedly having organized the insertion of false data on cards and in the Ministry of Health’s systems
• analysis of the content of electronic devices (computers, cell phones and flash drives, for example) seized from others investigated, in addition to Mauro Cid

PGR calls for further investigations into Bolsonaro, Mauro Cid and 15 others in the vaccine card scheme

Paulo Gonet, Attorney General of the Republic, assesses that it is necessary to gather more elements about the investigations into adulteration of the vaccination card – even in view of a possible connection with other investigations, such as the one about the attempted coup d’état in the elections of 2022.

“It is relevant to know whether any vaccination certificate was presented by Jair Bolsonaro and the other members of the presidential delegation, upon entry and stay in North American territory”, states the PGR.

“It would at least be of interest to find out whether there was, at the time, a rule at the place of entry of the delegation into the USA that required every foreigner to present a vaccination certificate for entry into the country, even if they hold a passport and diplomatic visa. The news is relevant for the assessment of the types of criminal offenses involved in the episode”, adds Gonet.

Upon completing the investigation, the PF linked the case of vaccination certificates to the investigation of a plan by Bolsonaro and his allies to carry out a coup d’état and prevent President Lula from taking office (remember in the video below).

According to investigators, the vaccination card fraud scheme “may have been used by the group to allow its members, after the initial coup attempt, to have available the necessary documents to comply with any legal requirements for entry and stay abroad (vaccination card), awaiting the completion of acts related to the new coup attempt that broke out on January 8, 2023.”
