The weather remains unstable and the rain must continue to achieve more intensity part of the region South of Brazil this Saturday (04). According to the weather forecast made by the Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System (Simepar), the areas most affected by rainfall should be the northern half of Rio Grande do Sul – a region that is already facing many problems due to flooding, and much of Santa Catarina. But what is the weather like in Curitiba and Paraná after this catastrophic situation recorded in Rio Grande do Sul?

“The flow of hot and humid air from the Paraguay region is what feeds these storm clouds in the region”, explains Simepar meteorologist Lizandro Jacóbsen.

In Paraná, Jacóbsen indicates irregular and less intense rains compared to the precipitation recorded on Friday (03). Although there was no rain in Curitiba, eleven municipalities in Paraná had an accumulation of more than 100 millimeters.

The city with the highest accumulation, according to information from Simepar, was Francisco Beltrão, where it rained 191 millimeters in the last 24 hours. Next was Candói, with 177.4 millimeters and Cruzeiro do Iguaçu, which recorded 158.4 millimeters.

“In Paraná, the rain trend is between the west and southwest and, mainly in the center-south and part of Campos Gerais”, says the meteorologist.

Could rain cause more problems in the South this Saturday?

Jacóbsen reports that the problems could worsen in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. “Due to the fact that it is raining more intensely in these regions. Due to the rise in river levels, but as the ground is quite waterlogged, the danger of landslides increases significantly,” he says.

In Paraná, problems should be minimal, guarantees the meteorologist. The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a yellow alert, indicating potential storm danger, in a small section of the southwest region of the state. The warning is valid until 11:59 pm this Saturday.

What draws attention in Paraná is the heating. “The north of Paraná remains very hot and dry, in fact, with temperatures exceeding 35ºC on thermometers in many cities. Between Campo Gerais, the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba and the Coast, despite having many clouds, the sun will predominate in the afternoon”, highlights the meteorologist.

The north of Paraná has a red alert, also issued by Inmet, which indicates a great danger of a heat wave in the region. Cities such as Umuarama and Londrina are included in the notice.

The weekend should be hot in Curitiba and the region

According to Jacóbsen, just like this Saturday, Sunday (05) should also have predominantly sunny weather in Curitiba and the region, with a minimum of 16ºC and a maximum of 28ºC. The forecast for this Saturday in the capital of Paraná indicates a maximum of 27ºC.
