Brazil was removed from the list of countries in which the only appearing on the permission list for “political campaign ads”. Now, Brazil is not in either of the two advertising options. UOL.

The change occurred in the same week that the deadline for platforms to adapt to the new rules of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) expires, which make it mandatory for companies that offer this type of service to make available a repository of ads with political electoral content.

The report recalls that the court gave a deadline of 60 days, counting from the date on which the resolution came into force, which occurred on March 1st.

The change in the X also comes weeks after businessman Elon Musk’s clash with the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and president of the TSE, Alexandre de Moraes.

The owner of network X accused the magistrate of censorship and threatened to fail to comply with court orders in Brazil. For this reason, he became the target of investigation in a court inquiry

OX started allowing political ads in Brazil in 2023. Musk closed the purchase of the company at the end of 2022 and has since made a series of changes, including dismissing a large part of the team that did content moderation. This has generated criticism from experts about the circulation of electoral disinformation on the platform.

Last week, Google had already announced that it would no longer allow political ads to be broadcast in Brazil via Google Ads, which includes YouTube, also due to the TSE resolution.
