Cyclist dies in accident with trailer in Bahia

A 39-year-old cyclist died after losing his balance, falling onto the road and being run over by a trailer. The accident occurred on the Ribeirão bridge, in Barreiras, in western Bahia, on Thursday night (2). O suspect fled the scene without providing assistance.

The victim was identified as Ivan da Conceição Alves. According to witnesses, he was traveling on Avenida São Desidério when he lost his balance and fell. At that moment, the driver of the truck passed the avenue and ran over the man.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called and tried to resuscitate the victim, who did not survive his injuries. Ivan da Conceição’s body was taken to the city’s Legal Medical Institute (IML) for an autopsy. There are no details about Ivan’s burial.

The driver of the truck has not yet been identified by the Civil Police, who are investigating the case.

Car falls into canal after crash with motorcycle in western Bahia

This Friday morning (3), another serious accident was recorded in the western region, in the city of Luís Eduardo Magalhães.

The case occurred in the Jardim das Acácias neighborhood. A pickup truck hit a motorcycle, went over the curb and fell into a stormwater channel. The vehicle had all four wheels up. [Veja vídeo acima]

Two Samu ambulances were called to help the victims. The driver was taken with injuries to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Luís Eduardo Magalhães and the woman who was riding the motorcycle was taken to Hospital do Oeste, in Barreiras, in a very serious condition. The names of the victims have not been released and there are no updates on their condition.
