Rural producers from various regions of the Federal District participated, this Thursday (25), in the course “Egg quality: from laying to the market”. Due to high demand, the training promoted by the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the Federal District (Emater-DF) was divided into two classes, morning and afternoon, lasting four hours each – more than 70 people were qualified.

The course, taught by extensionists João Gabriel, Soliene Ramos and Paulo Álvares, taught producers and rural workers how to produce quality eggs through the adoption of egg handling and conservation techniques, from the moment of laying until marketing to the consumer. Final.

The extensionist and Poultry Coordinator at Emater-DF, João Gabriel, informed that this was the first class of 2024. The specialist gave an overview of agriculture, the semi-confinement system, types of strains and those most suitable for the system.

“The issues addressed influence egg quality, such as feeding, daily handling and the number of collections. All of this was discussed during the course”

Soliene Ramos spoke about eggs and good agricultural practices in production, focusing on collecting and managing nests. Finally, Paulo Álvares explained the processing of eggs from their arrival at the agroindustry to their exit to the market.

“The issues addressed influence egg quality, such as feeding, daily handling and the number of collections. All of this was discussed during the course. This content is very important for those who are already or intend to enter poultry farming and is important to make them identify what type of management is adopted, the importance of choosing the strain, the structure used for egg production. These themes play a key role in the quality of the final product, as it has to deliver a safe, quality egg to remain and grow in the market”, pondered the coordinator.

Know to grow

Rural producer Eliane da Costa Assis, from Samambaia, has a small farm of 60 laying hens and, as she wants to expand the flock, enrolled in the course to improve management. “We want to do the right thing, the right way and the course was very worthwhile. We discovered such simple things that we did wrong, like storing eggs upside down. Very simple thing that will help us a lot to improve the process. Another point I liked was about the advances we need to make to transform into an agribusiness. All of these are dreams that are starting to take shape”, said Eliane.

Tânia Martins, producer at Granja do Ipê, in Riacho Fundo, also has a small farm, with 40 chickens. To increase production and be able to sell the eggs, she sought training from Emater-DF. “I’m amazed because sometimes we want to create something, but we don’t know how. We have to have guidance, there’s no point in just putting the animals there. Having guidance is necessary for us to develop,” she said.
