The Popular Jury does not yet have a set date. Aparecida has been in prison since May 26 last year, four days after the crime.
When analyzing the case, judge Rodrigo Pedrini Marcos, from the 1st Criminal Court of Três Lagoas, argued that the materiality of the murder was proven through images and expert reports.
The judge highlighted that the accused herself confessed to the crime. “If there is evidence of authorship and proven materiality, the only viable path to be followed is the pronouncement in the terms denounced, with the sovereign Sentence Council being responsible for analyzing and deciding on the parties’ theses, without any influence on the part of the single judge”.

The crime began to be investigated at the end of May 2023, when a man found the suitcase containing the remains of the 63-year-old victim on the side of the highway. After receiving the information, the police and technical experts went to the location and found only the victim’s torso inside the suitcase.
After conversations with neighbors, investigators reached the dead man’s wife. In her statement, the woman appeared nervous and denied involvement in the crime, but after contradicting herself with the information, she confessed to the murder.
To the police, the suspect reported that she gave rat poison to her husband and then, without knowing what to do with the body, dismembered him.
“The suspect confessed that she committed the crime in a moment of stress. During her statement, the woman rarely showed regret. She was very cold in her statement. The victim needed special care, and, in her statement, the suspect said she was ‘tired. to take care of her husband”, commented police chief Felipe Rocha.
