Rafael Fonteles announces the construction of Children’s Home in Picos – PORTAL RIACHAONET

The Pact for Children of Piauí, with actions in the areas of social assistance, education and health, completed a year of activities with a celebration held this Thursday (25) at a buffet in the south zone of Teresina. On the occasion, alongside First Lady Isabel Fonteles, coordinator of the Pact, Governor Rafael Fonteles announced the construction of Lar da Criança units in Parnaíba, Picos and Floriano.

The Lar da Criança Maria João de Deus, in Teresina, which welcomes children in vulnerable situations, is undergoing renovation as a result of the action of the Pact for Children of Piauí. The investment is approximately R$7 million and will provide children with a dignified and welcoming home. “Now, we are going to decentralize this service to three more municipalities”, highlights the governor.

Rafael Fonteles highlighted the integration with municipalities in actions such as the Carretinha da Saúde and the Literacy Program at the Right Age. “The policy focused on early childhood, integrating several departments, involving municipalities, guarantees, in fact, special attention from public authorities, from pregnancy to six years of age. Our expectation is that this will progress further and further,” he said.

First Lady Isabel Fonteles highlighted that the priority actions of the Pact for the Children of Piauí have all been implemented. “We want to monitor these actions and develop a public policy laboratory. We are completing the renovation of the Children’s Home, which will be delivered at the end of May. We also have a Health Cart, providing audiometry, ophthalmology and dentistry consultations. We still have the PPAIC, training teachers and school managers to serve children aged zero to three in daycare centers,” she considers.

Present at the ceremony, state deputy Franzé Silva, president of the Legislative Assembly, explains that this is the time to reap the fruits of the seed planted a year ago. “The Executive Branch has a special focus on early childhood, monitoring the child’s life trajectory. We built an early childhood parliamentary front to have a special emphasis on financing projects in the most diverse dimensions”, he assesses.

About the State Early Childhood Plan

During the ceremony, the State Early Childhood Seminar opened, which presented guidelines focused on the State Plan. According to the superintendent of Social Assistance at the Secretariat of Social Assistance, Labor and Human Rights (Sasc), Janaína Mapurunga, this is important to consolidate diagnoses in different areas. “We will launch, in a month’s time, the definitive document of the Plan prepared during the seminars we held”, she reveals.

The State Early Childhood Plan is the result of six seminars held in development territories and active listening to actors who make public policies and those who monitor the day-to-day reality of families. The Plan will guide public policies for the next 10 years.

Highlight actions of the Pact for Children of Piauí

In one year, the Carretinha da Saúde travels around Piauí carrying consultations, exams and dental and ophthalmological care, including providing glasses when necessary, in addition to audiometry. There have been more than 10,200 consultations and around 700 glasses delivered. Carretinha also updates the vaccination booklet and increased vaccination coverage for children between 0 and 6 years old to more than 84%.

The Piauí Literacy Program at the Right Age (PPAIC) continues to promote training for school managers and teachers. In addition, an investment in daycare furniture kits, with furniture, books, teaching aids and toys to serve 200 daycare centers in Piauí, of which 41 are being delivered this semester.

Alpha 10 Award

In the late afternoon of this Thursday (25th), the Alfa 10 Award will be awarded, at a buffet in the east zone of Teresina. The award aims to value educational management with a focus on student learning, mainly literacy at the right age, which is one of the goals of the Pact for Children of Piauí. In this 3rd edition, corresponding to the year 2023, 78 schools will be awarded.
