The Government of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, through the RN Water Management Institute (Igarn), monitors the main reservoirs responsible for supplying and meeting the various usage needs of municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte.
The Report on the Volumes of the Main Reservoirs in RN, released this Thursday (25), indicates that the Santa Cruz do Apodi dam, the second largest source in RN, accumulates 480,374,300 m³, as a percentage, 80.10% of its total capacity , which is 599,712,000 m³.
The Corredor dam, located in Antônio Martins, reached 100% of its capacity and bled this Wednesday (24). The reservoir has a capacity of 4,643,000 m³.
The Umari dam, located in Upanema, accumulates 288,288,490 m³, corresponding to 98.45% of its total capacity, which is 292,813,650 m³. There are 15 centimeters left for the spring to bleed.
The Armando Ribeiro Gonçalves dam, the largest reservoir in RN, accumulates 1,869,196,042 m³, equivalent to 78.77% of its total capacity, which is 2,373,066,000 m³.
Total surface water reserves, which correspond to the sum of the volumes of water reserves in the reservoirs monitored by Igarn, accumulate 3,368,280,410 m³, equivalent to 74.47% of RN’s total capacity, which is 4,522,931,699 m³.
Other reservoirs already exceed 90% of their total capacity, they are: the Cruzeta public dam, which is at 92.73%; Seesaw, in Rafael Fernandes, with 96.40%; and Morcego, in Campo Grande, with 96.85%.
Dams that have already bled during this rainy season, Santa Cruz do Trairi, are at 98.49%; and the public reservoir of Currais Novos has 99.61% of its total capacity.
The sources monitored by Igarn, with capacities exceeding 5 million cubic meters, which remain at 100% of their capacity, are: Mendubim, in Assu; Marechal Dutra (Gargalheiras), in Acari; Trairi, in Tangará; Campo Grande, in São Paulo do Potengi; Pataxó, in Ipanguaçu; Dourado, Currais Novos; Catch Fish, in Caraúbas; the public reservoir of Riacho da Cruz; Santo Antônio de Caraúbas, in Caraúbas; Passagem, in Rodolfo Fernandes; Beldroega, in Paraú; Malhada Vermelha, in Severiano Melo; and the Encanto public reservoir.
Other monitored springs that remain bleeding are: Novo Angicos, in Angicos; Riachão, in Rodolfo Fernandes; Curraes, in Itaú; Pinga, in Cerro Corá; Scissors, in Francisco Dantas; Denmark, in Serra Negra do Norte; Sossego, in Rodolfo Fernandes; and Francisco Cardoso (Mulungu), in Currais Novos.
