Accused of strangling young man and leaving body in suitcase are sentenced to 22 to 25 years | Tocantins

Those convicted of the crime are Weverton Oliveira Gouveia, sentenced to a sentence of 25 years and 11 months in prison; Pablo Oliveira de Sousa, sentenced to 23 years and nine months in prison; and Karla Almeida Milhomem, who will serve 22 years, eight months and seven days in prison. O g1 failed to make contact with the trio’s defense.

According to the State Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPTO), the murder was motivated by a dispute between rival criminal factions. A fourth member of the group would also have participated in the crime, but is still at large, according to the MP.

The investigation found that Higor was taken to a house where he was tied up and strangled with a rope. He was attacked by the defendants with kicks and blows, in addition to being stabbed in the neck and back.

The trial took place on Wednesday (24), in Araguaína. The jurors accepted the prosecution’s arguments and the defendants were convicted of qualified homicide for base motives, using torture and in such a way that Igor was unable to defend himself. They will also be charged with criminal organization, concealment of a corpse and qualified theft, as the victim’s cell phone was taken in the action.

After the arrests, the suspects were taken to the Araguaína Penal Unit. After conviction, they will have to serve their sentence in a closed regime and cannot appeal the sentence while free.
