Unit of the Cancer Hospital of Mato Grosso, carries out more than 450 services in Sorriso

The team from the Department of Agriculture, Environment, Science and Technology (Samatec) and the companies providing wood waste collection services in the Municipality participated in an online meeting this Thursday, April 25, with the team from the Department of State of the Environment (Sema). On the agenda therensertion of wood waste after conversion into chips in the Registry of Consumers of Forestry Products (CC-Sema).

“We understand as waste wood discarded from construction, pallets, tree pruning, etc. and we need this material to be included in the consumer register to provide a correct final destination!”, emphasizes the manager of the Smile folder, Nerci Adriano Denardi.

Denardi emphasizes that at the beginning of the week he was in Cuiabá in a meeting with the deputy secretary of Sema, Luciane Bertinatto. “Luciane personally had already informed us that there is no state legislation that allows the insertion of wood waste, after conversion into chips, in CC-Sema; this is a state deficiency”, she highlights.

The secretary also points out that with Sorriso’s provocation, Sema has already started negotiations with the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mato Grosso to analyze the issue. “As Sorriso was one of the pioneers in this demand, we will have a chair on the commission that is being formed to study alternatives to this”, he adds. At today’s meeting, the Sema team once again highlighted Sorriso’s action.

The deputy also suggested that in a palliative way, the wood residues are used in nature, that is, without being converted into chips. Fresh wood waste is already exempt from inclusion in CC-Sema.

Another issue also addressed is the inclusion of wood credits in CC-Sema arising from authorizations issued by municipalities. Still personally, Luciane informed that the Sema system does not allow insertion. However, the department committed to dealing with the competent sector, given that the legislation obliges the licensing municipality to act at all stages of the process, that is, it is up to the licensing municipality to release the deforestation authorization. One of the searches will be with the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) to check whether there are conditions for the agency to issue the Forest Origin Document (DOF) in situations like this.

“Today all this information was passed on to our businesspeople in an online meeting, there are some alternatives so that they can continue operating and doing so within the law”, concludes Denardi.
