Woman is attacked by her husband and children aged 9 and 12 call the police in ES | Holy Spirit

A 37-year-old woman was beaten by her husband in front of her children, on Sunday afternoon (5). Upon seeing their mother being beaten by their stepfather, the 9 and 12 year old children left the house, walked about 200 meters to the Military Police headquarters in the São Pedro neighborhood, in Vitória, and asked for help. Bricklayer’s assistant Lenilson Bela Cruz, aged 30, was arrested.

“My children saw him swearing at me and him doing everything. Then the oldest one said he couldn’t bear to see me suffer and that he was going to call the police. I told them they could go. […] I believe that my son loves me, he helped me, a son who does this has to love his mother”, said the woman.

The two children who asked their mother for help are the victim’s oldest, who also has a two-year-old child with the attacker. In addition to scratching and hitting his wife, the man locked himself and the couple’s son in the bedroom and the child was trapped in the room for two hours until the police arrived.

“She’s the love of his life, he won’t let go of this child, he used her so that nothing would happen to him. […] I was scared that something would happen, especially since there is a balcony in the room”, said the mother.

According to the woman, the bricklayer’s assistant was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attacks. Because of their cocaine addiction, the family has almost nothing at home.

“This firm he joined, he spent R$3,000 in four days on drugs, which was for my stove and my six-pack. I don’t have anything in the house, I don’t have a stove, I don’t have a wardrobe new, he destroyed everything”, he lamented.

The woman, who has been married to Lenilson for six years, said that she has been attacked on other occasions and is trying to separate, but her husband does not accept the separation.

“I told him I wanted to separate, he said he was going to leave on the 30th and he didn’t. Then this happened, he attacked me, a ‘drug addict’… I’m tired, I’m the mother and it’s the father who puts things in the house. If you’re going to have a man who doesn’t put things in the house, it’s better to live alone.”

The Civil Police reported that the 30-year-old suspect was taken to the Vitória Regional Police Station and charged with bodily harm. As he did not pay the bail stipulated by the police authority, he was taken to the Viana Triage Center.
