The president of the App Drivers Union of Mato Grosso (Sindmapp-MT), Solange Menacho, presented, this Monday (6), two projects to the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT), asking for more safety for drivers in the class.

To the g1, the union leader stated that one of the options presented is the ‘panic’ button, a tool that the user or driver can activate whenever they are in an unsafe situation. Once activated, a security agency would be automatically notified showing the real-time location and travel data.

“We want the ‘panic’ button, but the government claims that this responsibility lies with the Federal Government. If there was a dialogue between the state and the union, we could reach a common denominator. If the government covered part of the costs and drivers the other, it would be a way to improve safety”, he pointed out.

In addition to the ‘panic’ button, another alternative presented is a tracking application, which allows a group to be monitored in real time. One of the criminals’ practices is to turn off cell phones after the theft, but, with this application, it would be possible to track in real time, even with the devices turned off.

The proposal is that the Integrated Public Security Operations Center (Ciosp) receives alerts when something suspicious threatens the safety of drivers and users.

“We had 3 attempts and 1 robbery from Wednesday (1) to Sunday (5). Not to mention the three drivers brutally murdered in Várzea Grande last month,” said Solange.

The Union reported that around 14 thousand drivers in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande depend on the apps’ daily rides, whether fully or partially, to maintain their homes.

According to the president, in 2022, a bill was presented to guarantee greater safety for drivers, which was presented by deputy Wilson Santos (PSD), but was never voted on. After the murder of three drivers in Várzea Grande on April 15th this year, two new projects were sent to the ALMT, approved by the Security Commission, and should be voted on this Wednesday (8).

“Today [segunda-feira (06)]I was with the Ciosp superintendent talking about details of the project and we have already scheduled a meeting for Friday (10) to adjust points for a possible partnership.

Until then, I’m going to look for companies that sell a ‘panic’ button at an affordable price that we can have as a direct contact with the agency”, highlighted Solange.

Still visiting the ALMT, the union leader asked the representatives present for support and an agenda with the governor of Mato Grosso, Mauro Mendes (União).
