Currently, the production chain in the oil and gas sector in Espírito Santo has 565 companies, maintains more than 11,200 jobs and has one of the best average salaries.

Data compiled by the Industry Observatory of the Federation of Industries in the State (Findes), based on the Annual List of Social Information (Rais 2022), reveal the 100 professions that earn up to double in the oil and gas area.

The average monthly remuneration of the sector in Espírito Santo was R$6,307 and that of Brazil was R$6,820.40, in 2022. These values were higher than the total average monthly remuneration of the State (R$3,533) and the Country (R $3,861.10), compared to other sectors.

Among the producing states, Espírito Santo is the third largest for oil and the fifth for natural gas, but there is potential to go further in a highly relevant segment that represents 26.4% of the Espírito Santo industry.

Nathan Diirr, Business Environment Manager at the Findes Industry Observatory, highlights that the oil and gas sector requires specific technical skills and knowledge.

According to him, this is the main factor that justifies the average remuneration in the oil and gas sector being higher than the total average remuneration in Espírito Santo.

“It is worth highlighting that we have already mapped, by 2028, a total of 12 oil and gas projects in the State. Together, they total R$36.9 billion in investments and opportunities for anyone who wants to work in the sector”, he highlights.

Aline Fernandes, Professional Education manager at the National Industrial Learning Service of Espírito Santo (Senai-ES), reinforces that the oil and gas sector demands highly qualified labor with greater experience in the area.

An important point highlighted by her is that some training is very specific to the sector, but many courses in the area of mechanics and electrical are also necessary for this workforce, which creates opportunities for many professionals.

“These must be constantly improving, whether with short courses or long-term ones. So, for anyone who wants to enter this market, it is essential that they seek professional qualification courses, such as through Senai”, concludes Aline Fernandes.
