The district of Monte Verde and the cities of Maria da Fé and Caldas, in the south of Minas, recorded the lowest temperatures in Brazil during the last 24 hours. The thermometers registered 8.7°C in Monte Verde, the lowest measurement in the country until 8 am this Wednesday (April 24), according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

The city of Maria da Fé had the second lowest temperature at 8.8°C. The municipality of Caldas recorded the fifth lowest temperature, with 10.3°C. The cities of Campos do Jordão (SP), Nova Friburgo-Salinas (SJ) and Santa Vitória do Palmar (RJ) also appear in the national ranking.

Heat wave

Low temperatures were recorded amid approaching a new heat wave in Minas Gerais. According to Clima Tempo, the phenomenon should mainly affect the Triângulo Mineiro region, potentially setting a record temperature in the country. The expectation is that thermometers will exceed 35°C.

Other regions of the country should be affected. Depending on the Weather, the temperature may rise in the western region of São Paulo, northwest of Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul and southern Goiás.
