Kerry King says Slayer will not tour or record new material

Musician Kerry King, guitarist for the band that bears his name and for Slayer, graces the cover of the new edition of the renowned Metal Hammer magazine. Kerry spoke, among other topics, about Slayer’s unexpected return, announced in February 2024.

Slayer ended its activities in November 2019, after almost 40 years of services provided to Metal. Four and a half years later, without any fanfare, the group announced a brief return, which apparently should not bear much fruit. At least that’s what Kerry King guarantees.

“[A volta do Slayer] It won’t translate to recording and it won’t translate to touring. For me, it’s three shows marking five years since our last shows, a fun celebration, something like ‘Hey, remember us before the pandemic?'”, said King, in an excerpt of the interview published on the Blabbermouth website.

In the same interview, Kerry stated that he doesn’t talk much to Tom Araya, Slayer’s bassist and vocalist. According to the guitarist, they have different interests.

“It’s not that I’m mad at him or anything. We’re very different people, and ultimately we became business partners. He has very different interests than I do and very different perspectives. That makes me hate him.” ? No. But I don’t need to talk to him every day… We just don’t have much in common. When it comes time to rehearse, I’ll have no problem showing up.
