A new heat wave should reach Brazil in the last days of April, according to an alert released by Climatempo. The forecast is that the Triângulo Mineiro will record one of the highest temperatures in the country, exceeding 35ºC. Other affected regions are expected to be the West of São Paulo, Northwest of Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul and South of Goiás.
This will be the fourth heat wave this year in Brazil. According to Climatempo, this occurs because of an area of high average atmospheric pressure, which will act as an atmospheric blockage. This scenario favors the maintenance of hot and dry air, causing high temperatures.
“One of the characteristics of this system is to intensify the air from top to bottom, inhibiting the formation of clouds and favoring the intensification of heat. This contributes to raising temperatures day after day, even though it is autumn, a time when temperatures tend to drop. The lack of a mass of cold air strong enough to cause a significant change in weather conditions maintains the dominance of hot air over much of the country,” he reported.
Still according to Climatempo, Belo Horizonte should not be hit by the new heat wave. In the capital of Minas Gerais, at this time of year, according to the agency, it is common for average temperatures to decrease compared to previous months, due to lower solar radiation and shorter days.
