“It was a difficult day,” said Haas boss

Haas was frustrated by not scoring points today at the Formula 1 Miami GP, with Nico Hulkenberg finishing in P11 and Kevin Magnussen in P18, but still, it did not consider that it had had a completely bad race.

Ayao Komatsu, team principal: “It was a bit of a difficult day today, but at the end of the day, especially in the first half of the race when the car was heavy, we didn’t have the pace, especially on the hard tires. That hurt us, but after the Safety Car, we put on the medium tire trying to get back into the points and we got close, Nico finished 11th, so that’s positive. It was disappointing today, but overall we scored points in four of the six events held, and that’s the positive we need to take away. For Imola, we will have more things to come, so we will see what we can do there,” he concluded.

Hulkenberg: “It was a good weekend. Obviously, the ‘icing on the cake’ would have been to score another point today. Unfortunately, the first half of the race, the first section and the first part of the second section, was not strong enough. I was struggling for grip and we weren’t fast enough in that part of the race. The VSC wasn’t great for us, and when the real Safety Car came in it became a three-stop race, but it put us back on the map, and there was some good racing. I enjoyed the race, I don’t think we could have done anything differently”, he added.

Magnussen: “Not a good day, again. Hopefully I can get some clarity on things going forward. What happened today is, of course, not good, but we still try to move on and have a better weekend at the next GP,” he concluded.
