Operation arrests federal highway police officers on suspicion of obtaining undue advantage
A Federal Police operation arrested federal highway police officers on suspicion of obtaining an undue advantage. They worked in the Zona da Mata Sul of Pernambuco and were the target of temporary arrest warrants (see video above).
The warrants were issued by judge Tarcísio Corrêa Monte, from the Federal Regional Court of the 5th Region (TRF-5). In addition, two businessmen from the region were also arrested. One of them is from the municipality of Palmares.
According to the investigation of the TV Globo, investigations that began in Rio Grande do Norte showed that cargo leaving Pernambuco arrived in RN with drugs. They were transported by trailers and trucks loaded with wind blades.
The Federal Police of Rio Grande do Norte then investigated a drug trafficking ring. The investigation then began to be carried out in Pernambuco by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the Federal Police and the PRF Internal Affairs Department.
Eight federal highway police officers were identified as suspects of being part of the scheme. They work in Xexéu, in Zina da Mata Sul. Their names were not disclosed.
It is suspected that cars, trucks and trailers belonging to the criminal organization used stickers to indicate that they participated in the scheme.
The highway police officers were arrested this Tuesday morning (23). Six were at the police station where they work.
All those arrested were taken to a Federal Police annex in the Recife neighborhood, in the center of the capital, where they gave statements. They were then sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) to undergo a forensic examination.
They were then taken to the Professor Everardo Luna Observation and Screening Center (Cotel), in Abreu e Lima, in Greater Recife.
When contacted, the Federal Highway Police informed that, due to a court decision, it was not authorized to comment on the case.
