The Finance Department (Sefaz), through the Fiscal Education Sub-Management, in partnership with the Basic Education Curriculum Management of the Education Department (Sedu), intensified the dissemination of the “Tax Education” Methodological Booklet in public schools in the State.

Launched in March this year, the document aims to develop among students knowledge of the social function of taxes, promote social control of public resources and contribute to the formation of conscious citizens, strengthening fiscal citizenship.

The first experience took place on March 27th, at the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education (EEEFM) Silvio Egypt Sobrinho, located in Serra, with a workshop taught by employees Arthur Sérgio Rangel Viana and Silvia Oliveira Fonseca, from the Sub-Management of Tax Education at Sefaz, and João Evangelista de Sousa, from the Basic Education Curriculum Management at Sedu.

The activity involved professionals from two school shifts, morning and afternoon. From the workshop held, the school will build educational projects and practices that will count on the partnership, support and participation of Sefaz and Sedu. This April, new workshops will be held for education professionals at the Nova Venécia Municipal Education Network and at the Sobradinho State School of Elementary and Secondary Education, in Boa Esperança.

“The Methodological Notebook, published in collaboration with Sedu, is a way of helping education professionals with a guiding instrument for expanding students’ knowledge about the origin of taxes, their social function, processes to organize application and control of public resources”, explained tax auditor Lívia Delboni Lemos, deputy manager of Tax Education at Sefaz.

Professor Arthur Sergio Rangel Viana, coordinator of the Tax Education Disseminators course, highlighted that the material is in line with the new education guidelines proposed by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the Espírito Santo Curriculum. “In addition, it dialogues with the public policies of our State, by serving other sectors of the government, civil society and educational institutions”, he highlighted.
