Sesc/RS Preventive Health Units help reduce queues for exams

With the aim of expanding the population’s access to health promotion and disease prevention services, Sesc/RS heads the Sesc Preventive Health Unit (USSP) project, which takes mobile posts to cities in the interior of the State, in order to reduce waiting lines for exams and other procedures, free of charge for patients. The actions take place in partnership with the Municipal Health Departments, which make appointments via the Unified Health System (SUS). In 2024, seven municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul – Canguçu, Barra do Ribeiro, Mostardas, São José do Norte, Rio Grande, Sapiranga and Venâncio Aires – will have services from the USSPs, with mammography exams, ultrasounds, cervical cytology collection, ophthalmological consultation and health education approaches.

To participate, citizens must, in addition to contacting the Health Department of their respective municipalities, obtain the Sesc Credential. In Porto Alegre, USSP has a fixed unit at Sesc Protásio Alves (Av. Protásio Alves, 6220), which operates from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. Sesc Health – The Fecomércio-RS/Sesc System has several initiatives to promote the health of people from Rio Grande do Sul. Since its creation, Sesc has had the Health pillar as one of its priorities and, therefore, has developed activities in the preventive and curative area with initiatives such as the Sesc Preventive Health and OdontoSesc Units, in addition to dental offices and Sesc + Health Spaces , with general clinic care, preventive exams, laboratory referrals and nutritional monitoring. It also actively participates in vaccination campaigns in partnership with the State Government.
