Rio de Janeiro had intense traffic congestion this Wednesday morning (03/04). At around 8am, the capital of Rio de Janeiro had more than 180km of traffic, a rate almost 140% higher than the same day in the last three weeks, which was 77km, according to information from the Rio City Hall Operations Center.

In the Rebouças Tunnel region, at the entrance from Rio Comprido, the track that connects the North Zone to the South Zone of Rio was slow due to a Military Police blitz. The traffic jam there was reflected in locations in the Center.

On the Red Line, at 8:20 am, the congestion went from Pavuna to São Cristóvão, on the track towards the Center. At around 9:05 am, traffic was heaviest on the stretch between Vigário Geral and Caju. In the direction of Baixada Fluminense, there were no problems.

On Avenida Francisco Bicalho, a work causes a reflection on traffic from the height of the Railway Line, in Santo Cristo, towards Avenida Brasil. In the direction of the Center, at around 8:45 am, the road was blocked from arrival via the Gasometer viaduct.

On the Yellow Line, on the track towards Jacarepaguá, an accident involving a bus and a bus led to a long traffic jam. The raid happened around 7:30 am, near Engenho de Dentro.

Teams from Lamsa, the concessionaire that manages the road, helped to remove the motorcycle, which was trapped under the bus. Later, the agents managed to move the collective to the right of the road, allowing traffic in two lanes. The express Yellow Line had traffic jams from Bonsucesso to the toll booth.

On Avenida Brasil, near Irajá, on the central lane towards the center of Rio, an accident involving a motorcycle and a car, also around 8am, caused a lot of problems for drivers.

At 8:55 am, a protest occupied a lane towards the Center near Mercado São Sebastião, in Penha. At 9:20 am, the protesters walked and stopped at Avenida Lobo Júnior. City Hall agents are on site.

Chronic problem

Avenida Brasil, one of the busiest in Rio, has constantly suffered from congestion since the inauguration of the BRT, last Saturday (30/03), which restricted the movement of vehicles, leaving an exclusive lane for the circulation of buses on that system. .
