Traffic jam reaches 184 km in the city of Rio; number 138% above average | Rio de Janeiro

Rio – Drivers who traveled through different regions of the city, this Wednesday (3), faced a traffic jam of 184 km, at 8 am. According to the Rio Operations Center (COR), in relation to the same time of the last three Wednesdays, this number represents more than double the average (138%), as these days had 77 km of congestion in Rio de Janeiro.

At 9 am, COR recorded a traffic of 148 km, a number 169% higher than the average. In the last three Wednesdays, at this same time, the balance was 55 km.

Occurrences such as accidents, demonstrations and works could be some of the reasons for the city’s congestion this Wednesday. On Avenida Brasil, for example, protesters began an act at Penha, in the North Zone, and walked towards the Center. According to COR, city hall teams followed the protest and the road was blocked.

In the Rebouças Tunnel, which connects the North and South zones, an accident occurred between three cars, which occupied a lane of the road, towards Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Hours earlier, a collision between a car and a motorcycle caused intense congestion in the 2nd gallery, also towards Lagoa.

On the Lagoa-Barra Highway, until April 12th, one lane of the central lane will be closed for works to be carried out. During this period, COR recommends that drivers follow the Yellow Line or Avenida Niemeyer.

At around 8 am, on the Yellow Line, at the time of Abolição, North Zone of Rio, there was a collision between two motorcycles and a bus, which closed a lane towards Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone. According to COR, due to the accident, traffic was reflected as far as Del Catilho.
