To strengthen actions to promote the culture of peace in the state education network, the State Department of Education and School Sports launched, this Tuesday (2), a booklet to combat moral and sexual harassment in the workplace, in auditorium of the Padre José Anchieta Professional Training Center (Cepan), south of Manaus. During the event, the “Eu Gestor” and “Pai Conectado” applications were also launched, with the aim of further strengthening the relationship between family and school.

The booklet, which contains informative content, legislation, communication channels and informs which sectors are responsible for receiving and following up on complaints, was made available to school units and sectors of the state network throughout Amazonas.

With live transmission carried out by the Amazonas Education Media Center (Cemeam) throughout the state, the launch event was a space for dialogue between the Department of Education, school managers and partner bodies, such as the State Department of Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship (Sejusc).

“We don’t just work at the moment of the problem, we anticipate it so that there is prevention. Today, the booklet for the culture of peace is a document that guides our managers and management team, to welcome and protect”, highlighted the Secretary of Education, Arlete Mendonça.

Built in an intersectoral manner within the Department of Education, the booklet provides definitions of what moral and sexual harassment is, its typologies, main manifestations and consequences. Accordingly, the material also instructs employees on step-by-step instructions on how to report harassment suffered.

“The material was designed to serve teachers, managers, pedagogues and also students. It is a way of clarifying moral and sexual harassment in schools and workplaces”, highlighted Silvana Gurgel, legal advisor at the Department of Education.

Applications

In addition to the booklet to combat moral and sexual harassment, the event also featured the launch of the “Eu Gestor” and “Pai Conectado” applications. Available on the SASI digital platform, managed by the state government, the apps have the functions of facilitating school processes and bringing families closer together in the educational sphere, respectively.

With “Eu Gestor”, school directors will be able to have quick access to the school profile, enrollments, classes, documentation and general aspects of the district or regional coordination where their unit is located. “Pai Conectado” provides students’ guardians with a space for direct communication with the Department of Education, with access to school calendars, monitoring of enrollments and the possibility of sending suggestions.

Both applications also have a space for sending complaints, which can be received directly by the School Security Intelligence Center (Nise).

“Nise is a permanent nucleus and is part of the strategic structure of the Department of Education. And, until now, all our actions have been preventive, with no concrete occurrences in state schools”, emphasized the general director of Nise, delegate Denis Pinho.

Partners

The launches, this Tuesday (2), were also accompanied by representatives from Sejusc, from the Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas (MPAM); the Court of Justice of the State of Amazonas (TJAM); Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM), through specialized police stations in Child and Adolescent Protection (Depca) and in Investigation of Infractional Acts (Deaai); of the State Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CEDCA), the 33rd Public Prosecutor’s Office, Specialized in Family and Succession Law and the Brazilian Bar Association Amazonas Section (OAB-AM).

The representations are in line with the partnerships consolidated by the Department of Education. Last March, the Secretariat and OAB-AM signed a technical cooperation agreement to deal with moral and sexual harassment on the network. According to the president of the “OAB Vai à Escola” commission, Rosana Antony, the launch of the booklet is a successful start to the actions of the cooperation agreement.

“The material is wonderful. The booklet is a positive kick, it represents the protection of our children, workers, teachers, pedagogues. It’s a very important initiative,” she concluded.
