With 16 days since the start of the influenza vaccination campaign, data from the Health Department of the Federal District show that only 8.11% of people in the priority group sought health centers to receive the vaccine. According to the ministry, 89,976 were administered out of a universe of 1,109,385 residents who can receive the vaccine for free through the SUS (Unified Health System). The DF was the first region in the country to start the campaign, on March 19th.

The national campaign runs until May 31st and, so far, there is no forecast for the application of the target audience. Currently, the following groups can receive the vaccine:

To be vaccinated, citizens from the covered groups must go to one of the service points with an identification document and vaccination booklet. Even those who have already received flu shots in previous periods should get vaccinated.

Health Secretary Lucilene Florêncio stated that immunization occurs during the period of greatest circulation of viruses. “The vaccine is considered the best prevention strategy against influenza [gripe], having the ability to promote immunity, reducing the worsening of the disease and hospitalizations”, he said on the first day of the application of the vaccines. The DF received 332,000 doses of the vaccine and we have 134,400 doses in stock.
